Town Board Member Christian Russo Reading Legislator Bill Gouldman's Report at August 19th Town Board Meeting

Careful observers of the August 19th Town Board meeting might have noticed something amiss.

Board Member Christian Russo read aloud the monthly report he had been emailed by Legislator William Gouldman, as can be seen here, beginning at the 38:30 mark. But little of it made any sense.

Russo announced that there is an open seat on the county's Home Improvement Board, in case anyone wanted to apply. But there is no seat currently open.

He announced that work had started on "the bridges" and that residents could learn more about the new contractor for the Peekskill Hollow Road and bridge reconstruction by watching a video on the town website. But work on that bridge was completed last year.

He announced the county's Health Department vaccine schedule, but the dates he provided - August 17, 25 and 29 - were incorrect.

And he announced that the county was considering building a new fire training center and would be voting on it in the county's Protective Services Committee on Thursday, August 17th. Not only was August 17th two days prior to the date when Russo was reading this report, but August 17th was a Monday. Oh, and the county's completed fire training center opened last year.

All of these items in Gouldman's report appear to have stemmed from 2023, not 2026. Whoops.

For those interested in knowing this year's vaccine schedule, here's what's on the county's Health Department website:

"Scheduling information for the school-based flu clinics is distributed by the individual schools. The three public clinics for adults are set for Monday, September 28, at the Carmel Fire Department, followed by one at the Garrison Fire Department, on Wednesday, October 7, and the last back at the Carmel Fire Department on October 19. Each begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m. Online registration is encouraged. To register and/or for more information, please visit: www.putnamcountyny.gov/fluclinic. If you have accessibility needs, please sign up for either the clinic in Garrison on October 7, or the Carmel one on October 19 and indicate this during the online process for an in-vehicle vaccination. Walk-in registrations can also be accommodated."
