PV Election Results

The unofficial results are in and three of the four town races appear to have clear winners. Alison Jolicoeur has garnered more votes than her opponent, Bill Gouldman in the race for Town Supervisor; Robert Nachamie has received more votes than David Axinn in the bid for Town Justice; and Shawn Keeler, who ran unopposed, will again serve as Highway Superintendent.

The race between Christian Russo and Maia Gilleo for county legislator is a little too close to call. Russo currently has a healthy lead, with 2,347 votes compared to 2,187 for Gilleo, but until the remaining absentee and mail-in ballots are counted his victory cannot be guaranteed.

Here is tonight’s tally for Town Supervisor:

Putnam County Board of Elections

The results indicate that Jolicoeur was able to solidify her leadership position on the Town Board despite having only ten months to do so. (She squeaked into office last year with just 23 more votes than her opponent, Jacqueline Annabi.) This election marks the end of a long run in office for Bill Gouldman, who ran for supervisor this year after serving 12 years in the county legislature.

Here are the tallies for the county legislator race:

Putnam County Board of Elections

Nachamie received a total of 2,611 votes compared with Axinn's 2,383. It was the 273 votes he received on the Conservative/Libertarian lines that put him over the finish line. Axinn earned one more vote from Democrats than Nachamie earned from Republicans.

Shawn Keeler, the current Highway Superintendent, received 3,815 votes this year, 1,348 more than he received last year.

Voter turnout this year was especially strong. Of the 8,884 registered voters this year, about 57%  voted in this year’s election compared with 33% last year. Of that total, 2,820 voters this year were registered Democrats and 2,799 were registered Republicans. Another 2,642 did not identify with any party.
