Town Board Briefs

• EV chargers are coming to Putnam Valley! At its monthly meeting on Wednesday, the Town Board unanimously approved the purchase of two dual port Level 2 ChargePoint stations that will be installed at the Town Board campus. The cost of installation will mostly be covered by a grant, with a $7,455 match required to be paid by the town. The revenue generated from charging is expected to help cover the cost of maintenance. Supervisor Alison Jolicoeur said the charging stations should be in place before the end of September.

• Jolicoeur also announced that she is seeking applicants for a steering committee to help update the town's 2007 Comprehensive Plan.

Here's how she described the opportunity in her monthly newsletter: "We’re looking for residents with a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives who are passionate about the future of our community. Whether you have expertise in planning, engineering, environmental conservation, business, architecture, agriculture, recreation, or simply a strong commitment to Putnam Valley, I encourage you to apply. We also hope to include at least one representative from the Climate Smart Task Force, the Commission for the Conservation of the Environment, and the Neighborhood Business Committee to help ensure these important perspectives are part of the conversation."

She asked those interested in serving on the committee to submit their resume and a brief letter of interest to ajolicoeur@putnamvalley.gov with the subject line "Comp Plan Steering Committee".

As she further explained: "This will be a transparent, community-driven process. All Steering Committee meetings will be open to the public, and residents will have numerous opportunities to participate, ask questions, and share ideas throughout the planning process. Public input will play a critical role in developing a Comprehensive Plan that reflects our shared vision for preserving Putnam Valley’s rural character while thoughtfully planning for the future."
