PV Celebrates Earth Week
In a sign of growing interest in the environment, this year Putnam Valley residents will have an extensive array of events to choose from to celebrate April's Earth Week.
As can be seen from the calendar of events on the town's website, there is something for everyone. Parents can take their kids to feed food scraps to chickens or help them learn about pollinator plants. Wannabe environmentalists can learn more about recycling or energy affordability programs. There will be a tour of a composting facility, a bicycle repair opportunity, and a community cleanup of Lake Peekskill. For the intrepid, several hikes are being offered in lesser-known wooded areas. The programs are generally free and open to the public, though some require registration.
The lineup is the result of invigorated leadership at the town's Commission for the Conservation of the Environment (CCE) and the now-relaunched Climate Smart Task Force. The events start on April 15th and continue through the 26th.
