Progress in Lake Peekskill!

The owners of the three homes at 62, 64 and 66 Lake Drive in Lake Peekskill signed an agreement today with the Putnam County Department of Health to remediate the ailing septic systems at those properties.

Heath Gurinsky, representing Jemab Family Limited Partnership and its partner Eileen Myers, admittted to violations on the three properties and agreed that his client would do the repairs within 30 days. After 30 days, if the septic systems are still not fixed, subject to the Health Department's inspection, Jemab will give its tenants in the occupied homes at 62 and 66 Lake Drive thirty days to vacate. (The home at 64 Lake Drive is already vacant by order of the town.) During the period when repairs are being done, Jemab also agreed to pump out the septic tanks every two weeks at the two homes that are currently occupied.

The agreement marks an important step forward in a saga that has dragged on, in this iteration, for months. Another hearing is scheduled for July 1st, at which point Administrative Law Judge Eric Zaidins will review the progress and, if a final settlement is reached, begin writing a report with his recommendations to the county regarding financial penalties. That report then goes to Rian Rodriguez, the county's Director of Public Health, for a final decision on the fines owed by Jemab.
