Meet the Candidates Night at Lake Peekskill Community Center

Early voting began on Saturday for 2,743 registered Republicans in Putnam Valley who are selecting their candidate to be on the ballot in November for Town Supervisor. Early voting will continue until Sunday at the county's Board of Elections office (25 Old Rt. 6 in Carmel at these hours), with final voting taking place Tuesday, June 24th from 6am until 9pm at the PV Ambulance Corp building at 218 Oscawana Lake Road.

Incumbent Jacqueline Annabi and candidate Stephanie Waters faced off at a standing-room-only "Meet the Candidates" night last week at the Lake Peekskill Community Center. Annabi's answers reflected her experience working in Town Hall, first as a board member, and currently, as supervisor. Waters positioned herself as a change agent, arguing that it was time for fresh thinking. Based on feedback from some attendees, it's unlikely anyone's mind was changed by the conversation. For those who missed it, here's a link to the event. A summary of the two candidates' backgrounds and positions on issues can be found here.

If Waters wins on the 24th, Annabi will still be on the ballot in November because she earned the local Conservative Party's endorsement at its caucus in early June. If Annabi wins, she will face Alison Jolicoeur, who will be on the ballot on both the Democratic Party and the newly-formed Working Together Party lines.
